Bobby Stick Tip

BlaqKofi said... I own a bobby stick, but haven't been able to use it - or apparently, I haven't been using it correctly. Guess I better go back and read your November post.

Hi BlaqKofi,

Interestingly enough, the best way to use the Bobby Stick is to disregard the directions. The directions on the back of the package say to insert the stick from the bottom. I think the way I (and most people) grab and twist their hair, the bottom is too thick to put the Bobby through. I stick it through the top as you can see in the photos below. I think that secures my hair much better.

This is not the neatest updo, but you get the picture. (No pun intended.) I hope this helps.

Your hair is amazing!

This looks like a very useful item - thanks for the step by step. My SL's are new so perhaps it is a bit early to use one. Still, I'd better get my order in before everyone else sees this post!

Happy New Year

Thanks for this. I am almost able to start doing updos of this sort.

Now if only I can figure out what I did with my bobby stick...

Thanks for the tip on how to use. I got one a while ago and couldn't get it to work. I will have to give it a try your way.

Thanks for the tips, Leighann. (((((Big cyber hug))))) I am indeed a visual learner and can't wait to try this myself. Love, Blaq.

Leighann,
I'll echo that your SLs are really gorgeous. I was supposed to get my hair locked the Monday and Tuesday after Thanksgiving here in the New York area. I was excited and psychologically revved up to make this big transition, but nervous. I took time of from work, made babysitting arrangements, had to travel a li'l outside NYC, cobbled together all the money needed...only to be stood up by the SL consultant! She had also mismanaged the initial consultation, so after that I decided not to go back to her and am currently wearing a wig (a very natural looking one!). ANyway, despite having no real good options, I'm now VERY VERY unsure if I should still take the leap to SLs, and further I don't know who to go to here in NYC. If you are still here, can you recommend a consultant or two? My hair is very fine and the would-be consultant I met with said she'd do mine very small to give volume, which is what I'd like if I do go through with it in the future. I'm giving myself 3-4 months to get back up the courage and want to know I'm spending my hard earned cash with the right person, especially since it will be more of an on-going relationship rather than a one time trip to the hairdresser. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'll try to keep checking back on your site for any responses. Many Thanks! Happy'07!

Indigo, I am sooooo very sorry to hear about your consultant mishap. That is very disheartening. I am very happy with my consultant, Khumura. Feel free to call her. Her number is 917-650-5544. I posted about her back in May:

Also, e-mail me directly at LeighannLord@aol.com and I'll be happy to give you more info.

"Update" I went to CVS and WalGreens, and I found the "Spirals", but since I have larger Locs, I don't know if they will work. {I took a picture, but it will be sometime before I post it on my blog}.

Take Care!
